I took the trek to Mount Rainier like a lot of photographers do during the summer to capture the abundance or wildflower blooms the area is renouned for. I set out on a trail I hadnt been on before, on a scouting mission. I hiked to the base of the Paradise Glacier to find an ice cave with the lure of a waterfall at the other end. As I turned around and began to exit the cave, I saw this scene. I had no idea at the time what had caused these colors to form in the ice. After the experience, I learned that these colors are a result of minerals and algae that grow during the summer thaw on the mountain. These colors are not added in. I have never seen a scene like this ever in my experience.
