  • Brief Directions: About 50 miles south of Skagway and 10 miles west of Juneau on the inside passage of SE AK.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: An orca or killer whale, lifts its head and half its body out of the water to view the action above. Resident pods of killer whales can be very playful and active. They eat fish and travel with there families. Transient pods travel in small groups and eat mammals, they are stealthy and seen only in small glimpses. This group was one of residents and played in the deep fjords with Juneau's costal mountain range in the background.
