A flock of blackbirds passing overhead drew my attention, and I was able to shoot a few frames of them silhouetted against the evening sky. Once at home, I overlaid two of the images, then processed the result as a high-dynamic range image in Photomatix. I felt the final image not only encompassed the colors of the sunset, but the layering of the birds conveys the enormity of the flock.
