From Lake McDonald, take the main road north into the North Flathead River Valley. Follow the paved and gravel road for about 20 miles until you reach the small village of Polebridge. Then find the 6 mile long narrow gravel road that goes from the ranger station to the truly epic lake, deep in grizzly bear and gray wolf country.
Definitely one of the most beautiful and wild places that I have ever driven my Jeep Wrangler into. The majestic and remote area that is NW Glacier National Park is a land that most tourists never visit. I got to Bowman Lake at the right time on this night in July 2012, and I was humbled.
