From the town of Anahuac take Highway 61 East to FM 562. Take this South to FM 1985. Go about 5 miles to the refuge entrance and turn right.
This photo was taken on a day that was much more windy than average. When I saw that the waves were slapping against the bank I knew that a unique opportunity was presenting itself.
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge lies in Chmabers County Texas and covers thousands of acres around the Eastern portion of Galveston Bay. There is a driving trail and opportunities for hiking and fishing. This is a premier destination for birding and wildlife photography. Alligators, otters, bobcats and blue herons are Just a few of the residents. I've found it to be a quiet place to practice landscape photography as well.
