- Description: Mono lake is a photographers paradise. It is no wonder that on a given evening you will find groups of photographers scattered around trying to capture the unique tufa formations. After straying from the crowd of photographers that were lined up along the shoreline, I headed in search of a new spot that many people might not have seen before. I ended up finding a nice little lagoon that had wonderful tufa formations that towered over the waters. I roamed around looking for the right composition, and found this layered scene of tufa formations that would work perfectly. With the clouds getting thicker and thicker, I began to panic that there would be no incredible sunset. As soon as the sun retreated behind the mountains to the west, the sky exploded in reds and oranges. It was like nothing I have seen before. I have been told that sierra sunsets are one of a kind, and I was very grateful to have been able to witness this amazing display of light and color.
