This image was taken for No Water No Life®, an organization documenting the Omo River Basin and 5 others in Africa and North America to raise the awareness of the value and vulnerability of our freshwater resources.
This young Dassenech boy wishes for enough wood for fuel and building and enough water from the Omo River to sustain his family’s farming and livestock. It seems simple enough, but dams and commercial cotton farming will threaten his tribe’s lifestyle. They will probably be forced to move to arid areas and end up standing in international food aid lines.
