Notes

Three vertical frames stitched to create a file size rivaling large format film. Shot at sunrise on a stormy morning. The sky opened up just long enough to illuminate the peaks of the Torres Massif and closed up again in less than two minutes. Windy conditions are prevalent in Patagonia. On the particular morning this image was created, there was no wind, allowing a rare reflection of the Massif from Lago Pehoe. Taken in early February, 2009, autumn colors were just starting to become visible.

Description

Torres del Paine is the crown jewel of the Chilean national park system. An extraordinary park with hiking, backpacking, lodging ranging from hostels to five star luxury hotels, glaciers, glacially fed lakes, mountaineering and wildlife. Roughly translated from the indigenous language, Torres del Paine (Piney) means 'Horns of Blue'.
