Photo Details
- Title: Snow Geese Fill The Skys At Dawn
- State/Province/Region: Washington
- Country: United States
- Nearest Area: Skagit Valley
- Nearest Town: Conway
- Description: Snow Geese roost overnight on Skagit Bay and depart around dawn to feed in the surrounding farm fields of Skagit County
- Brief Directions: 60 miles north of Seattle take the Conway exit off Interstate 5. Head west across the south fork of the Skagit River on the Fir Island Road. There are a number of turnoffs that go south to Skagit Bay overlooks.
- Notes: Winter is magical in the Skagit Valley in winter with thousands of snowgeese and one of the largest concentrations of Trumpeter and Tundra Swans in the lower 48 states. This concentration of birds including 1000s of ducks, attracts numerous birds of prey along with the resident eagles in the valley. The scenery with Padilla Bay in the west, Mt Baker to the North and the Olympic mountains south across Skagit Bay, make for wonderful sceneic backgrounds
- Best Season: Winter
- Gear: Canon 7D Tamron 28 - 300 lens
