Description: After hiking to this location several times I had almost given up hope of getting some light that would work well with this scene. February sunlight comes from an angle that cannot provide even lighting due to the depth of the canyon. In the late afternoon an infusion of clouds accompanied an approaching snow storm that was expected that night, so I thought this would be my last chance to photograph this feature before the weather changed much more. With the wind howling I hiked back out to this location and spent the last hour of day light available photographing Horseshoe Bend as the storm approached. Partly cloudy skies loomed overhead allowing for a relection on the Colorado River. Wind from the bottom of the canyon blew snow up the side wall making it necessary to clean off my 2 stop grad filter in between shots. It was cold and my fingers froze but I believe I was able to capture this well known feature in excellent winter light.
