- Description: Fall in the Snake River Canyon offers an amazing but brief opportunity for a photographer. When I found this grove of trees, their leaves had just begun to turn from their brilliant greens of the summer into hues of orange. This act of self preservation happens very quickly for trees in northwest Wyoming. I returned with my camera a few days later to find this maple ablaze with some of the most vibrant reds I have ever seen in the natural world. The overcast skies made for a perfect afternoon shooting amongst the trees. Hoping for one last opportunity, I returned a few days later and was greeted by a far different scene. The winds that often come with the first of the winter storms had stripped the tree of all its fiery beauty. Only the trunk and branches remained.
