  7. Beautifully executed - nice balance in the lighting. Good luck!
  8. What this has to do with "World Wonders" is beyond me. Also, the subject is too centered. Rule of thirds, remember.
  9. Before the 'rule of thirds' there was a rule that photos needed to be perfectly centered. The wonder of this photo is how life can spring from seemingly nothingness. (Open your mind, dannyg...) I love this photo for the juxtaposition of hot and cold, the continuity of the sun via the long shadows of the blades and how the curve of the white contrasts with the straightness of the subject. Awesome eye, Josh.
  10. DannyG I am very well aware of the rule of thirds, by breaking this rule it does not condemn this photo but instead made it what it is, art. Besides if everyone followed the rules everything would be the same. Being the photographer of this Soaptree Yucca I made the decision to shoot straight on because of the position of the sun, background, and also because of the other distractions that would have taken away from the main focus. Being an artist gives you the creator of the piece the freedom to portray the photo in anyway you so choose. In my eyes the Soaptree Yucca is a World Wonder, not just because of its uniqueness as a plant but also how it survives through such a rough habitat. One more thing about this plant is that the Native Americans used the fibers of the Soaptrees leaves to make belts, sandals, cloth, baskets and many other items. Also it can be given to cattle in droughts as an emergency food. Again I appreciate your critique and thank you for it.
  11. Obviously, everyone has their own style and tastes. However, this picture and 90% of the others have nothing to do "World Wonders."
  12. I love this shot. The crisp texture of the sand is great, very sharp and well done!
  13. Phenomenal eye! Combining the stable and calming aspects of blue with the mystical and spiritual aura of the yucca gives me an overwhelming sense of peace and stillness in this photo. It is no wonder you picked the Soaptree Yucca--"Soaptree Yucca activates our assertiveness in the expression of our own will or intention, especially if we tend to allow the will of another to dominate us. It helps us to keep sight of our long-term goals with faith, perseverance and endurance." Don't let other's try and dominate your own senses--keep up your perseverance!
  14. A big thank you goes out to everyone who voted and commented on my photo!! Best of luck to everyone!!!
