Today's Photo of the Day was submitted by Michael Morse to the Winter Shapes Assignment.

"After a beautiful Christmas day snow storm, the local ski hill opened their doors for the first time this season so people could enjoy the fresh powder. This shot was taken looking up the mountain where it is out of bounds for skiing. But every now and then you get some folks that like to go off the beaten path," says Morse of the shot of Idaho's Pebble Creek Ski Area. Morse's equipment included a Nikon D5100, Tamron 150mm-600mm lens, and Photomatix Pro 5 software.

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are featured in The Best Of Assignments section in print. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
