As much as I love a photograph that shows a pristine vista that appears untouched by humanity, I'm also drawn to photos that show a person interacting with the landscape. In recent issue of OP I've published more than one article extolling the benefits and techniques for including people in your images. Steve Shuey's photograph from Ebbetts Pass in California is a good example of a situation when the inclusion of a person takes a good image up a notch. He submitted the photo to the Moonshots Assignment which closed last night. "I had to coax my brother into getting up very early to get out and shoot this," writes Shuey. "The small sliver of the moon is on the right. The skies were very colorful due to ash in the atmosphere from a volcanic eruption earlier in the year."

I choose the OP Photo Of The Day from the various OP galleries including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and all of the OP Contests. Also, for each issue of the magazine I go through the Assignments galleries and choose a few to be featured in The Best Of Assignments in print and I select a weekly winner to be featured on the OP home page. To get your photos into the running all you have to do is submit them.
