Today's photo of the day comes from the Fall Color Assignment which closed last night at midnight. The Fall Color Assignment ran for an extended time to allow photographers to send in photos of this year's peak fall color. We received over 1700 submissions to the Assignment!

Wendy Gedack took this picture of the Dallas Divide in Colorado with her Canon EOS 6D and a 24-105 mm f/4L lens. This photo also shows how beneficial it can be to have something happening in the sky. "During the short time I had to photograph this area," Gedack explains, "I was excited when these wispy clouds developed over the mountains. I raced to get some shots before the sky cleared!"

I choose the OP Photo Of The Day from the various OP galleries including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and all of the OP Contests. Also, for each issue of the magazine I go through the Assignments galleries and choose a few to be featured in The Best Of Assignments in print and I select a weekly winner to be featured on the OP home page. To get your photos into the running all you have to do is submit them.

What a stunningly beautiful photo! It draws me into it and makes me want to stay.

Congratulations to Wendy on being selected!

Thank you to OP Magazine and Christopher Robinson, Editor for choosing my photo as Photo of the Day! I feel honored and appreciative for having my photo selected!

    Thank you,

    Wendy Gedack

Beautiful photo. The color saturation in the sky seems high. I’d be interested to know how this image was processed.
