Spitsbergen is an island located just north of mainland Norway, and is home to glaciers, ice floes and polar bears. Part of the Svalbard archipelago, Spitsbergen is one of the largest islands in this chain in the Arctic Ocean. You can get to the island archipelago by plane from Norway, which takes approximately three hours. During the summertime, polar bears can be found on the pack ice hunting for seals and jumping from ice floe to ice floe. Spitsbergen also has a diverse number of birds to photograph, from nesting arctic terns to long-tailed jaegers to thick-billed murres on the cliff edges. Spitsbergen's beautiful pristine blue glaciers and ice floes are a sight to behold.

The “White Valley” is among the most extreme places in the world to ski and one of the most photographic spots in western Europe for the outdoor photographer. The valley is surrounded by the titanlike mountains of the French Alps. Here you can find Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc, two huge and jagged mountains that stick out over the horizon of the valley, which make for great panoramas. Access for skiers to Aiguille du Midi is via the world’s highest cable car, which takes you up to the ice, snow, crevasses and dangerous slopes. Here you can catch the action of a skier going down dangerous turns, or move around and capture scenic vistas.
