Photo Details

  • Title: Bull Elk Bugleing
  • State/Province/Region: Colorado
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Town: Estes Park
  • Description: Bull Elk Bugleing - Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Brief Directions: Early October as the rut sets in, large dominant bull elk corral their cows together in harems. They become very aggressive and fight off other bulls. On this day, as the sun set a light snowfall began and the temperatures dropped. This dominant bull was very busy running off and fighting several other bulls. Then he casually walked up to the ridge, silhouetted against the twilight sky, tilted his head back and began to bugle away!
