Penguin Paparazzi

  • Title: Penguin Paparazzi
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country:
  • Brief Directions: Get on the ship in Ushuaia, Argentina and head South! Hang on as you cross the Drake Passage.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: I've visited my favorite place, Antarctica, nine times now and this was one of my most memorable experiences, photographing the land/icescape along with the wonderfully curious wildlife. After spending several hours on the ice this particular day I stopped shooting for a minute and backed away from my gear as a group of Emperor penguins approached. Again knowing how curious they are I figured there might be a chance to grab a fun shot and turned out to be better than I could have imagined.

Very nice set of "Arches" Stephen. Wasn't sure, but thought someone said one of the famous landmarks fell? Really enjoyed the "Double Windows" when there!

That moose is a "spike" i.e. a very young juvenile, probably on his first year away from mom. His antler's will fill out further in the next few years.

Very interesting post Donna and Mike on Moose/Antlers. Not sure what may have caused the change in antlers, but pretty sure the one will end up looking like one of these in a few years.
