Pastel Layered Dunes

  • Title: Pastel Layered Dunes
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country: Namibia
  • Nearest Area: Namib-Naukluft National Park
  • Nearest Town: Sesriem
  • Best Season: Winter
  • Description: Driving through Sossusvlei I was marveling at brilliant colors the morning sun was painting on one side of the road. Then I looked ahead to the other side of the road where light was falling more gently through a haze of desert dust. Here the sun created a pastel canvas of the two layers of distant dunes, one of brown sand, the other of red, poised below a sky tinted lavender.
