Biwindi Mountain Gorilla

  • Title: Biwindi Mountain Gorilla
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country: Uganda
  • Nearest Area: Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Nearest Town: Kampala
  • Brief Directions: Part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in south eastern Uganda but high up in the Biwindi Mountains. An overnight stay in one of the mountain lodges is usually necessary since the mountain park entrance is difficult to reach even by vehicle.
  • Best Season: Autumn
  • Description: Uganda is one of the few countries that offers guided mountain gorilla trekking with a permit. It can be arduous at time when the only way to view these magnificant primates is to follow the guides down the mountainside off-trail. This large silverback seemed caught in a pensive moment unconcerned by our presence.
  • Gear: Nikon D90 with 80-200 f2.8 zoom

Stunning shot Terry. Love the clouds and drama they bring to the picture. Lorenzo

Thanks Laura, really appreciate it. I have printed it large several times, and really shines. We'll see!

Wow, this is just spectacular, and reading the backstory makes it even more so. I hope I see this in a double spread!
