Mt. Everest By Airplane

  • Title: Mt. Everest By Airplane
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country: Nepal
  • Nearest Area: Ring Road
  • Nearest Town: Kathmandu
  • Brief Directions: The domestic airport is adjacent to the Tribhuvan International Airport.
  • Notes: Mountain flights from Kathmandu leave every morning during the dry season from October to April. The flights offer spectacular close-up views of the Himalayas and mighty Mt. Everest. The planes used are 30-seat turbo propeller planes with 15 seats on each side of the craft. I suggest booking the earliest flight and try getting a seat on the left-hand side of the plane near the front. Each passenger will have a window seat and an opportunity to visit the cockpit. The plane ride lasts just over an hour and costs about $110 US. This is by far the most economical way to photograph a sweeping landscape of Mt. Everest.
  • Best Season: Autumn
  • Gear: UV filter, polarizer filter, image-stabilizing zoom lens.

I like how the edge of the surge looks like fine lace. Very nice pic!
