Description: Canal and side-channel within the Cuero y Salado Manatee Reserve on the North Coast of Honduras near La Ceiba in Central America. This was originally a man-made canal built by the Standard Fruit Company over 75 years ago when it was abandoned and the area eventually donated for a reserve. The mangroves have regrown into a veritable jungle. This is one of the major manatee reserves in Honduras and is also a RAMSAR global wetlands reserve.
