The Arch Of Titus

  • Title: The Arch Of Titus
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country: Italy
  • Nearest Town: Rome
  • Description: This is the oldest surviving example of a Roman arch. Located on the highest point of the Via Sacra, which leads to the Roman Forum, it was erected after the death of the Emperor Titus to commemorate his conquest of Judea in 70 A.D. The Romans brought back 50,000 to 100,000 slaves from the conflict, many of whom were compelled to work on the Colosseum. Because one of the reliefs under the arch depicts spoils from the sack of the Temple of Jerusalem, many modern-day Jews still refuse to walk under it. However members of the post-war Roman Jewish community staged a large parade beneath the arch in 1948 – in a direction opposite that of the original Roman triumphal march – to celebrate the founding of Israel.

I like the realism of your image. So many now are not realistic. The composition is great and just the right amount of post processing. Beautiful.

Beautiful rich colors Carla! Always love seascape images! Very nice blend of the sand/rocks/water!
