Good Morning, Paris!

  • Title: Good Morning, Paris!
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country: France
  • Nearest Town: Paris
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: “The Dancing Faun” greets a new day at the eastern gate of the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. The six-and-a-half-foot bronze sculpture was created by Eugene Louis Lequesne in 1851 and won a first-place medal in the prestigious Paris Salon art exhibition. Faunus was one of the oldest deities in Roman mythology, a good spirit of the fields, forest, plains, groves, and glens – also famous for his flute playing. His counterpart in Greek mythology was Pan, the half man, half goat god of mystery and delight. From his name, we get the words “panic” and “pandemonium.”

Thank you, Sandra. I don't blame you for missing Colorado. I could never leave!

Snorri, I could tell this was Iceland from the clouds. I lived there 47 years ago yet I still remember the beauty of the sky. Congrats on your awards.

This one literally took my breath away. I'm from CO, but haven't been there for a while, yet my heart is instinctively drawn to pictures of it. This is stunning. Thank you for this Joseph.
