  • Brief Directions: Turn off the A38 at Drumbridges (Bovet Tracey) and take the A382 to Bovey Tracey. Continues straight over 1st roundabout until you reach the 2nd roundabout. Turn left on to the B3387 and continue past Haytor rock, continue until you see sigh for Hound tor and Manaton. Turn right here and continue until hound tor car park. Turn right immediately after car park and continue through the gate on to Hayne Down. continue for about 100yds and park on left. Then just walk up the hill to the tor/rock.
  • Notes: Can be photographed all year round.
  • Best Season: Autumn
  • Description: The low angle of the setting sun against dark angry clouds is always recipe for dramatic photography. In these conditions the light is a rich golden colour and really makes the landscape come alive.

    Thanks Alena and David! I took a lot of shots of this landscape, but placing a person in the shot imparted the sense of amazement and exhilaration I was trying to capture. Merry Christmas!
