Grytviken: Abandoned Whaling Station

  • Title: Grytviken: Abandoned Whaling Station
  • State/Province/Region:
  • Country:
  • Nearest Area: South Georgia
  • Nearest Town: Grytviken
  • Brief Directions: Taken at f10 and 1/120 at ISO 200 and lens at 22mm
  • Notes: I took many closups and scenes of the rusting out equipment of the whalers but I thought this photo depicted what I thought I was going to see until we landed and realized that "all is not what it seems".
  • GPS Longitude: -36.5116667
  • GPS Latitude: -54.2766667
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Description: This is actually a o picture of an abandoned whaling station, although it looks like an actualy town. The only ones who leave here are penguins. There is a gift shop for sending postcards which is quite an oxymoron.
  • Gear: Canon digital rebel

I like this image. Nice composition that leades you up the river. Nice color but not to oversaturated. Crisp and clear. Nice job.
