Description: We approached this lone Cape Buffalo on our way out of Amboseli National Park one evening. The buffalo usually congregate in tightly packed herds, but this guy stood off alone and aloof from the other animals (except for his two oxpecker companions on his back). Maybe it was just the soft evening sidelighting, but even his demeanor seemed more mellow than the typical Cape Buffalo. At any rate the almost-horizontal light highlights the caked mud on his horns and face and provides a nice catchlight on his eye.
