- Description: Heading into the Narrows of Zion. The rock barely peeking around the corner in way background is huge and is called "Floating Rock" and is the 3 mile mark into the Narrows hike in Zion National Park
In the busy touristy months of the National Park System, I was able to beat the crowd and managed to hike here for hours in complete isolation. I've realized now, there is a pattern and a strategy to being a photographer in these kinds of places. I had just read an article written by a guy who whined and complained about this very hike and how the tourist had made it impossible to photograph. I found quite a different experience.
Probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and hiked. I still can't get over the lighting. I worried much about the direct summer sun since I knew the hike would literally take all day but what I found was spectacular. Deep in the slots, the sun barely hits the ground but instead bounces off all the canyon walls producing this diffuse, soft, golden glow to everything. I'll be back often
