- Description: This is an image of the old Crystal MIll in Crystal CO. This mill was just outside a small mining town founded in 1880. Peak population was about 400 in 1886. Now a few buildings remain and town is shut down in winter. It is quite a journey getting their by car. I was staying in SnowMass and drove the route to the area. It took me about an hour to go the last couple of miles. I was told not to enter when raining but it started about 30 minutes into the drive. By the time I got to the old Mill, it had stopped raining and the clouds started to clear making the light much better than I had anticipated based on the time of the day. The exposure was about 4 seconds. Minimal processing in Phocus and CS4. Minor cropping, curves, and USM. I have to stay the journey was worth it. On the way, I stopped a few times to try to get a shot and got attacked by a large colony of ants. Overall, it was worth it.
