Description: Pyramid Lake is an idyllic oasis in a remote area of desert on the Paiute Reservation, about thirty five miles northeast of Reno, Nevada. This endorheic (self-contained) salt lake is 350 feet at its deepest, with a surface that stretches 15 miles long and 11 miles wide. Taken from the southeast side of the lake, this photograph beautifully captures the rich sapphirine colors of a sunset preparing for an oncoming desert storm.
