- Brief Directions: From 26 and Mitchell go about 7 miles west and make a right turn on County Road to the Painted Hills Unit, where you make a left to the Painted Hills Overlook.
- Notes: This is an idyllic area, with very few visitors, with wonderful lighting effects early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
- Best Season: Spring
- Gear: Tripod; good walking shoes.
