Dawes Glacier

  • Title: Dawes Glacier
  • State/Province/Region: Alaska
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Inside Passage
  • Nearest Town: Juneau, Alaska
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: Dawes Glacier was very active on the day we arrived. There was much calving taking place and I was able to catch some tremendous photo's of the ice falling and thundering into the water below. The black ice floating in front of the Glacier actually came from under the water from a previous "explosion". A few minutes before this photo there was huge chunks of ice falling into the water and the black ice came crashing up and continued to float across the water.

I like this image. Nice composition that leades you up the river. Nice color but not to oversaturated. Crisp and clear. Nice job.
