Light Playground

  • Title: Light Playground
  • State/Province/Region: Arizona
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: North rim lodge
  • Nearest Town: Jacob lake
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Description: Just before sunset when the sun is just hovering above the horizon. It was stormy on the north rim which meant lots of clouds would be traveling through. With the clouds breaking apart, beams of light would make their way to the canyon floor creating a mosaic of canyon walls, buttes, and temples. Shooting into the sun allowed the contrast to show through as well as the depth that is not truly seen from the rim. Using a medium telephoto lens allowed me to get a more intimate shot of the light playing amongst the canyon walls. Truly, a spectacle to be seen.

Stunning shot Terry. Love the clouds and drama they bring to the picture. Lorenzo

Thanks Laura, really appreciate it. I have printed it large several times, and really shines. We'll see!

Wow, this is just spectacular, and reading the backstory makes it even more so. I hope I see this in a double spread!
