Havasu Falls

  • Title: Havasu Falls
  • State/Province/Region: Arizona
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Town: Peach Springs
  • Brief Directions: coming from the West, go through Peach Springs, or from the East, through Seligman, head to Hualapai Hilltop. That is where the trailhead is. Hike about 10 miles to the village, confirm reservations, pay the fee, and then another 2 miles to the campground. If you aren't into backpacking, you can rent a mule to take your gear, a horse to ride, or pay for a helicopter to fly you to the village. If you aren't into tents and camping, there is a lodge in the village as well.
  • Notes: It's a great place, very beautiful, but it is on an indian reservation, so you will need reservations (which can fill up fast), and will need to respect local customs. Also, it is in a desert, if you plan on hiking, take lots of water.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: On the Havasu Indian Reservation, in Arizona, there are many waterfalls, and pools. The 4 most popular falls are Navajo, which is the first one, between the village, and the campground, Havasu, which is the first one you'll probably see if you're camping, it is at the top of the campground, at the other end of the campground is Mooney falls (the tallest fall) and then about another 2 miles is Beaver Falls (which is actually a series of falls and pools, sort of like a lot of beaver dams.
  • Gear: Hiking boots, Lots of water, camera, swimming suit, tent, reservations

Very nice set of Owens Valley Laura! I really like the balance of the rocks in foreground, and light/dark contrast between mountain and hills!
