Spring Lake At Badwater In Death Valley

  • Title: Spring Lake At Badwater In Death Valley
  • State/Province/Region: California
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: A few miles south of Furnace Creek Inn
  • Nearest Town: Beatty, Nevada
  • Brief Directions: At Badwater in Death Valley National Park.
  • Notes: Formation of a lake at Badwater is extremely rare. In my many trips over the years this is the only time I have witnessed it.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: After an unusually wet winter, followed by the "100 year" flower bloom, a large, temporary lake formed on the Salt Pan at Badwater. This photograph was taken on a somewhat overcast day. The reflection of the hills in the still lake provided an unusually pretty reflection receding into the distance.
  • Gear: Nikon D300 with a Nikon 18-200 mm Lens
