• Brief Directions: From the Santa Cruz area, take Highway 1 north for about 11 miles. The trails down to this beach are steep and treacherous. There are easier beaches to get to, but none with a pier quite like this.

• Description: One of the best parts of living along the coast in Santa Cruz are the numerous beaches and coves dotting the shoreline up towards the small town of Davenport. This old abandoned pier is such a striking feature, that I knew I needed to photograph it. I was hoping for a shot with the sun setting inside the first structure. The elements helped further frame the sun with the offshore fog bank and incoming clouds.
