  • Description: I was woken up by my cat before sunrise on a day I had planned on catching up on some sleep. When I let her outside, I immediately knew I needed to go somewhere to photograph. I headed down to the Capitola Pier, a few minutes from my home. Normally I shoot landscapes, but I went with a spot I know well and the storm waves and clouds added another dimension to an otherwise ordinary pier.
  • Brief Directions: From the Santa Cruz area, take Highway 1 south to the 41st Ave exit. Head towards the beach and make a left at Capitola Rd. This will take you down into the Capitola village.
  • GPS Longitude: 121
  • GPS Latitude: 36
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Gear: Nikon D300, Tokina 11-16mm, Lee GND Filters, Gitzo tripod, Markins Ballhead, RRS clamp and L bracket
