In The Mist

  • Title: In The Mist
  • State/Province/Region: Colorado
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Nearest Town: Estes Park
  • Brief Directions: Sprague Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park
  • Description: The snow was so soft this morning that each step became a waist-deep hole. I dragged myself toward the edge of the lake, set up the tripod, and the rest of the time I just stood there and waited. The fog seemed to mute all the sound except from the curious ducks that happily explored the newly thawed water. Canon 5D Mark II + EF 17-40mm f/4L. 26mm 1/800sec at f/8, ISO3200. The settings of the exposure was to capture the snow flakes and the ducks.

Very nice set of "Arches" Stephen. Wasn't sure, but thought someone said one of the famous landmarks fell? Really enjoyed the "Double Windows" when there!

That moose is a "spike" i.e. a very young juvenile, probably on his first year away from mom. His antler's will fill out further in the next few years.
