Pulpit Rock At Black Canyon Of The Gunnison

  • Title: Pulpit Rock At Black Canyon Of The Gunnison
  • State/Province/Region: Colorado
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Town: Montrose
  • Brief Directions: Black Canyon of the Gunnison is on SR 347 which is accessible from US 50 between Montrose and Gunnison Colorado.
  • Notes: I love Black Canyon of the Gunnison because it is largely unknown to most tourists. While only as half as deep as the Grand Canyon, its rock layers are vertically aligned unlike the horizontal orientation at the Grand Canyon.
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Description: Pulpit Rock is one of the view spots on the south rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The canyon is more of a steep gorge although it is about a half mile deep inside the park.
  • Gear: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L Series Lens

Wow, just beautiful! The light is perfect and I love the curve of the tree and the lines of the canyon wall.

Thank you, Sandra. I don't blame you for missing Colorado. I could never leave!

Snorri, I could tell this was Iceland from the clouds. I lived there 47 years ago yet I still remember the beauty of the sky. Congrats on your awards.
