- Title: Lava Light
- State/Province/Region: Hawaii
- Country: United States
- Nearest Town: Volcanos National Park
- Description: Most work for a Foto ever! We, my wife and I, spent 3 nights on the lava hoping to find something spectacular. Finally on our last night a ranger explained that a delta had collapsed between 2 flows and the lava that was damming up was creating fountains before dropping in the ocean.
At the 20th hour of hiking on the lava in 3 separate nights, the fountain started to sputter. It took me a while to pull out the camera because I wasnt convinced there was anything there, but my wife made me.
This Foto I believe was an 8 second exposure at ISO 800 and 5.6 aperture. Anything longer than 8 seconds was just a blurry mess, hence the high ISO.
- Gear: Canon 40D 28-135mm manfrotto tripod patience.
