Brief Directions: Snow owls reurn to Polson after about a 6 year hiatus
Best Season: Spring
Description: the Snow owls have returned to the Polson area after breeding and hunting conditions seemed to get to be a bit to much for these artic birds that normally do not wander to far past the canadien borfer.
Polson sits about 70 miles south of Kalispell Montana which is about 65 miles from south of the border-Kalispell that is.
On this cold and brutal day 14 Snow owls were seen in the area feeding oof of voles and waiting in the brush for any movement.
The snow owls would play like a hide and seek game as seen in this shot as the larger owl would fly from tree to tree and come up behind the owls and screech-it was pretty amazing. It has been about 6 years since the birds were last seen in the area.
