Hoye Canyon

  • Title: Hoye Canyon
  • State/Province/Region: Nevada
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Smith Valley
  • Nearest Town: Wellington
  • Brief Directions: From Highway 395, take Nevada 208 towards Smith Valley into the town of Wellington. Take a right on Hoye Canyon road approx 3-4 miles and park below the horn.
  • Notes: The water flowing through the stream is full this April. Probably due to the banner snow fall in the Sierras this year. Sunset seems the best for colors. I used 17mm on 5D with F/14. Composited about 6 images to get the Pnoramic effect and slight HDR. The Sky was from a previous visit. It took me 4 visits to get the images I needed.
  • GPS Longitude: 119
  • GPS Latitude: 38
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: Sunset in Hoye Canyon, this is a short but dramatic desert canyon. Lots of rich mineral content with a beautiful stream flowing through it. A wide angle lens is necessary for this shot. I composited 6 different shots to get this one.
  • Gear: Canon 5D

How do you know that it doesn't just like a clean beach uncluttered with human waste?
