  • Brief Directions: From Albuquerque: Take I-40 West to NM 371. Go North through Crownpoint. The turn is approximately 46 miles North of Crownpoint. Cross the Don Gleason Bridge and look for the BLM sign. Turn right off 371. The parking area is about 4 miles from 371.
  • Notes: This 45,000 acre Wilderness, managed by the BLM is a desolate moonscape of eroded formations and hoodoos. It is found by following a broad wash from the parking area. It can be hot in the summer and cold in the fall and winter. Bring water and check weather conditions. The road becomes slick and empassable in wet conditions. You can use this a GOTO when navigating out after sunset. Make sure you have a headlamp and extra batteries. This is a very fragile area. All visitors should tread lightly. Pack it in and out. Please do your part to take care of this special place.

Beautiful rock seascape Duane! Oregon has some remarkable areas along the coast. Have you ever visited/photographed the Bandon Beach Rocks? A favorite place there, when I get the chance!
