Turtle Cove

  • Title: Turtle Cove
  • State/Province/Region: New York
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Montauk lighthouse
  • Nearest Town: Montauk
  • Brief Directions: Montauk highway to the end. Go right at the signs to Camp Hero. Park in the parking lot and take the trail to the left. You need to hike about 1/2 mile before you get the best view of the lighthouse and turtle cove. This area is popular with surfers and fishermen so it is safe for woman photographers who travel alone.
  • Notes: Notes to self: bring a flashlight wear tick spray wear hiking boots watch your step it is a long fall down use a polarizer filter try f22 next time.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: Sunrise on the Montauk lighthouse is a photographers dream. Being raised in NY I have had the opportunity to photograph this on several occasions. This is a slightly different view of the lighthouse, but I believe it provides scale and depth and location.
  • Gear: Canon xsi and tamron 18-270 zoom lens

Thanks Laura, really appreciate it. I have printed it large several times, and really shines. We'll see!

Wow, this is just spectacular, and reading the backstory makes it even more so. I hope I see this in a double spread!
