Photo Details

  • Title: Hatteras Fences
  • State/Province/Region: North Carolina
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Coquina Beach
  • Nearest Town: Nags Head
  • Description: Hatteras National Seashore is a wonderful place. Go south from Nags Head and, within just a few minutes, you are surrounded by 20 to 30 foot sand dunes on one side and salt marsh on the other. There are a few towns along the road-- very few.
  • Brief Directions: US 64 East to Nags Head. Just before you get into town, follow the signs to the right for the National Seashore. Coquina Beach is about 10 miles or less down the road and just across from the entrance to the Bodie (pronounced body) Island Lighthouse.
  • Notes: We arrived just before the 5:52 sunrise after a 20 minute drive from the town of Manteo. No one on the beach but us. The dunes and seashore are very impressive, wild and natural.
  • Gear: Canon 20D, ND grad, tripod
