Description: Wildflowers arrive in May, especially Golden Bees, painting the already colorful Painted Hills with bright yellow swatches. The Painted Hills were formed as a result of the buildup of ash from volcanic explosions in Eastern and Central Oregon over eons. The different colors banded in the smoothly molded hills represent different climatic changes over many millenia.
