Tumalo Creek

  • Title: Tumalo Creek
  • State/Province/Region: Oregon
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Forest Road 4603
  • Nearest Town: Bend
  • Brief Directions: From Bend head west on Galveston St. At the Mt. Washington Dr. roundabout continue west on what becomes Skyliners Rd. for 8.5 miles. Pass the snow park, and follow Forest Road 4601 just over the creek. Take a left on Road 4603 for 2.5 miles to the trail head. A Forest Pass is required at the parking lot.
  • Notes: The trails are open year-round. There are likely over a dozen falls within a few miles of the trail head. In the winter the road is plowed up to the gate at Road 4603. Bring your snow shoes, or cross-country skis and break trail along the meandering creek. The Fall is perhaps a more quieter time here, as the majority of the Summer crowds are gone. Autumn seems to push out some of the greens for a more interesting color pallet.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Gear: ND filters to extend exposure times.
