Deer & Live Oaks

  • Title: Deer & Live Oaks
  • State/Province/Region: Texas
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Texas Gulf Coast
  • Nearest Town: Port Lavaca
  • Brief Directions: From Port Lavaca take Highway 36 South to Highway 239 South, continue to Highway 774 South take this to 2040 South. This will lead to the refuge entrance.
  • Notes: This shot of the deer and oaks was taken from my vehicle one afternoon just after passing the park entrance. This is one of those shots that was completely spontaneous and the animal's posture and look of surprise made this shot memorable for me.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Description: Aransas National wildlife Refuge is best known for the endangered whooping crane population that winters in this location. The area is certainly a hotspot for wildlife photography. I am primarily a landscape shooter, yet have enjoyed capturing images with animals included in the scene for quite some time in this refuge. here are several miles of hiking trails as well as a 16 mile loop drive.

Was just in the area of Valley Park, Fenton, and Hillsboro Missiouri in November before the storm. Got to love the trees, and your image tells the story perfectly...
