Vermilion Cliffs

  • Title: Vermilion Cliffs
  • State/Province/Region: Utah
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Hwy 89
  • Nearest Town: Kanab
  • Brief Directions: From St. George, travel east on Hwy. 9, through Zion National Park. At Mount Carmel Junction, go south on Hwy 89, to Kanab. The cliffs are between Kanab, UT and Page, AZ.
  • Notes: The Vermilion Cliffs in Utah are less congested than their cousins in Arizona, around Page. They are, however, every bit as beautiful. It gets hot in the summer, and cold in the winter, so dress accordingly. Kanab is a good base, located close to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, as well as the Vermilion Cliffs.
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Gear: Plenty of water. Good hiking shoes.
