Maybird Gulch

  • Title: Maybird Gulch
  • State/Province/Region: Utah
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Little Cottonwood Rd.
  • Nearest Town: Alta
  • Brief Directions: Start hiking at the White Pine parking lot in Little Cottonwood canyon. About a mile up, the trail splits either left to White Pine Lake or right to Red pine lake. Take the right where you quickly cross a stream and hike another 1.5 miles to a bridge. Cross the bridge on the right and hike another mile to Maybird Lakes.
  • Notes: This hike is fairly steep throughout, but well worth the effort. The Maybird lakes are tucked in at the base of the Pheifforn with impressive walls of granite on either side making for an intimate experience in the Wasatch Mountains. These lakes are not as popular as nearby White Pine and Red Pine lakes, which adds to this wilderness adventure and gives you a real sense of solitude.
